Ghanian fashion designer and creative Joyce Ababio was born in Accra, Ghana. She had her degree in fashion design from Texas woman’s University after transferring from St. Cloud State University where she was studying Medical Technology for one year, she is known to have groomed many renowned designers in Ghana.

After her university education, she worked in the fashion industry until she returned to Ghana in 1993 to begin her fashion journey which led to her establishing the Vogue Style School of Fashion and Design in 1995 and thereafter launched the Joyce Ababio College of Creative Design (JACCD) Accra, in 2013. The fashion designer has participated and overseen costumes for beauty pageants such as Miss Ghana.

After 17 years of building and running the Vogue Style School of Fashion and Design, Joyce Ababio launched the JACCD in 2013. The program designed as an independent private institution with programs is known to be the first school in Ghana to adopt and blend the liberal arts method of education with design, interior Design, Graphic Design, Product Design in Jewellery and Accessories and Textiles.

The institute commenced the running of three programs – Fashion Design, Graphic Design and Entrepreneurship with the mission of providing greater design educational opportunities in Ghana and move the fashion industry in Ghana to the limelight, and through it demonstrate the impact education can have on people’s life.

The fashion department of the institute offers two options for intending students who which to study fashion, the options are a 2-year associate degree program and a 4-year bachelor’s degree program with five different specialties or areas of concentrations such as Children’s wear, intimate wear, sportswear, and men’s wear.

The Graphic Design department of the institute offers two options for intending students two options which are a 2-year associate degree program and a 4-year bachelor’s degree program but with two specialties or areas of concentrations which are Branding and Entertainment Design.

Students admitted into the institute are generally required to complete 76 credits and 148 credits for the associate degree and bachelor’s program respectively for any of the three departments before they can graduate.

The institute is accredited by the National Accreditation Board of Ghana and affiliated with the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in Maryland, USA.
